Whoaaaaaa huge piece! haha it might just be my internet connection, but this one took forever to load for me.

Looks like you drew it traditionally before scanning it into the computer though, so kudos for uploading art you drew on paper! I'd say the frame + gate really compliment the whole piece.

I actually just started using photo blue pencil for my traditional work and I find it works wonders when I scan it into the computer to colour later. Your inks show up just fine and the blue pencil becomes nearly invisible! Just gotta tweak the brightness+contrast and voila!

Anyway, good work and happy belated halloween!

Heeey...! I know your work...!
I've seen your sleepycast and batman animation.

Good to see you're doing art portal related stuff, too!

Overall there's a slightly .. unfinished(?) quality to this piece, which is why I think a 4 is appropriate, but it works well with the whole Halloween theme. You also mentioned that you're doing a drawing every day in the month of October, so it'd be unfair to expect you to submit completely finished/polished art every single day.

Hope your daily art challenge turns out well!!
It's a tough commitment!

Keep up the great animations.

MrChambers responds:

Hey thanks! I'm a huge fan of your work! And a 4 is very generous, thank you :). Unfortunately I could not keep up with the Draw a day, I had so much animation work to keep up on :/. I don't even know why I uploaded this unfinished peice to begin with

Haha is "powerful candy" actually a reference from Adventure Time?
I know of this ridiculous asian lemon candy that uses the same slogan and that's what your title reminds me of. Just google "Oh! Powerful Candy!"

ANYWAY back to your halloween piece--! Really spooky looking! I love your consistent use of smearing and smudging to create a creepy melting effect. Suits the Halloween/Zombie theme very well. It almost has Salvador-Dali traits to it as well!

Keep up the great work! I can see you're doing Jazza's challenge of the month stuff and it looks like it's really paying off.

Cheers and happy belated Halloween!

BicheTordue responds:

ahah thanks :p
yes it's a reference to Peppermint Butler who use black magic and know the death, it's a mysterious character because we don't know his past but we can imagine he is a very powerful candy ! :D

euuh, I have a very lot of work to do if i want to equaled to salvador dali x)

Aw jeeeez! You need to colour your work more often! This looks sick!

I love the character's design overall and the personality you show through your concepts. I can almost guess what this character would sound and act like just by looking at him.

Nice touch with the mouth belly too haha

Keep it up!

Iviqrr responds:

I'm really bad at coloring stuff, it takes me too long to do it and I end up scrapping a lot of stuff cause it doesn't look quite right. I'm really glad that someone seems to like it, means a lot. :)

Dang, nice work on this~!

I never liked doing architecture/background shots because they involve so much perspective work, but you really pulled it off and made it look fun to boot! All the little details really make this piece and tells a bit of a story while it's at it.

Great job once again man.

ArmyofDorkness responds:

Hey, thanks a lot.
It really means something when an artist you respect notices your work.
I have the story that follows plotted out. It seems hopeless but the kid wins in the end through luck and bravery and some unlikely allies.

Ahaha - of all the crazy things going on in this piece, my absolute favourite detail is the little man on the balcony pointing up at the spectral monster like "um, deal with this please."

lol @ "octuplet amputee".

Nice character idea and linework!

CaperCube responds:

Thanks for the comment, it's much appreciated!

This is screaming to be animated! Nice line work!

Props to actually carving out a literal pumpkin for your halloween submission!

I always seem to forget how painstakingly difficult it is to gut a pumpkin and then meticulously carve it out, so g'job with this one.

Imprez responds:

Sabtastic! :D thanks, it was a very thick pumpkin too. yeah hoping next year I'll get an even more detailed carving.

Yeaaaaahhh! Sam and Max!
Hah what a great Halloween crossover...!!

I read the whole description in their voices, too.

G'jerb!
