Adventures from Pico Day and my 22nd Birthday

Posted by Sabtastic - May 3rd, 2012

Made it back in one piece from Pico Day! Yaay!
Here are the photos I ended up taking... And a link to facebook, just for shits!
(Feel free to tag yourself if you're in anything)

[Sab's Pics from Pico Day]

I had a blast. Everyone there, even though they started out as complete strangers, were more or less BFF's FOREVER by the end of the trip... And some of them only got to hang out for one or two days! The whole Pico Day experience was really inspiring too. It really got me out of a rut and made me eager to learn new things from all of the ridiculously talented people there.

I ended up Staying at Stamper, Mike, AlmightyHans, and Oney's classy new place. They were awesome hosts. The house itself was this really awesome 7 bedroom place, and throughout the Pico Day weekend, there must have been at least 10 people there at all times.

Over the 5 or 6 days I spent there, I had time to check out some local attractions, like the Mutter Museum (bizarre corpses and stuff), try authentic Philly cheesesteaks, discover how cool 'Wawa' convenience stores are, and how much it sucks that Canada doesn't have them. I got to test out JohnnyUtah's Cintiq tablet (It's now MANDATORY that I get one because those things are fantastic, and I was accused of being a terrorist by TD Bank while I was there too. lol They refused to take my apparently shady Canadian currency when I was driving around with Mike, because my name came up on some OFAC blacklist... I don't even have a criminal record, n'or have I ever travelled to the states ...!! I had a connecting flight in California once, but holy damn...!

Anyway, my birthday itself was pretty fun, because I share it with some really cool people, and it was on Pico Day this year!
Redminus and Tom Fulp!
Tom's birthday is actually on the 30th, but Pico Day is his big day too, so it was really neat to celebrate at the same time.

So.. .Yeah! During the last few days that I was there, Stamperand Hansended up buying themselves a sweet new fire pit, and we it was so fun and relaxing that almost literally just sat around talking until I had to leave for Canada. It was so unbelieveably chill. Mike was there, Oney, JohnnyUtah, AlmightyHans, Happy Harry, his girlfriend Sucho and MasterArdvark--
We all swapped stories and made dick jokes. It was a gay ol' time.

TL;DR: I really hope I can go back there again soon.
I really felt at home, and I had a blast. Thanks for the birthday wishes, everybody! <3

The photos were really fun to look through. Thanks for sharing them!

I can only imagine how awesome the time for all of you was. :)

It really was a fun trip. Everybody I met there was super cool. c:

Wow I'm so glad you did this (pictures :3), and that the trip stuck a new Energizer in your little bunny!

lol Guess you could say that..!
It definitely got me wanting to learn more about Flash, get better equipment, etc.
It was more art-related social interaction I've had in a long time, too. lol

thanks for takin all the pics - - TOTES JELLY!!!!! ZOMG HEHEHEHEE

No problemo!!

Had a great time, glad to have showed you the sights and nasty smells of the city

Heh - yeah! xD
Thanks for the autograph and the drawing, Luis. Was really fun hanging out with you guys! c:

Let me know if you ever head out to the West end of Canada, k? :D

Was nice to meet you! Just go easy on the terrorism, k?

lol Easier said than done! I didn't even do anything!! xD

Was cool meeting you, too!! Hopefully we can all meet up again sooner than later!
Hope you guys had a decent flight home with no airline mess-ups!

It was wonderful to meet you as well as everyone there.
I was glad to see you bring your sketch book, it was fun swapping art;
Oh and i see my photography skills proceed me. >:)

The whole experience was a wonderful refresh from last years, it truly makes it all that worth while appreciated since it's once a year. it's like the saying, distance makes the heart grow fonder or something along the lines of that.

Regardless, being there with the artists really brings out the confidence and will to push into new ambitious project territories much like my NG avatar project; which by the way i need to shoot you a pm about as well as the others who hopped aboard.

Also, i appreciate you not naming me on facebook; to be honest, i don't truly wish to affiliated with it.
Maybe when i am more comfortable as an artist, i may (most likely never) branch out to it but i appreciate the thoughtful consideration.

Thanks again sab, it was wonderful to make you as well as jordan's acquaintance.

Nice meeting you too, man!
It really was an inspiring experience.

Despite the crappy flight, Jordan ended up enjoying himself, and I feel like I left with a lot of valuable contacts and supportive friends to learn from.

Cheers!

Also, i could not have done this without luis.
A major thanks to that guy amirite?

Oh and a belated happy birthday of course!

D'oh, thanks!! :3

you put in a good word for me? ;)

D'AAH!! D:>
I completely forgot. Wow, I'm a jerk.

I think I remember seeing you in the chat on Pico Day, though..!

v you put in a good word for him

I was going to, but I'm a forgetful moron and forgot. 3:

Just went through all those pics. I feel like such a stalker. :3

I wish I could attend Pico Day someday... Looks fucking awesome.

lol No need to feel like a stalker. I wouldn't have put 'em up if I didn't want anyone to see them. xD

Looks like an awesome Picoday.
"We all swapped stories and made dick jokes. It was a gay ol' time."
LOL, sounds like fun!

lol it really was fun...!
I'm was super sad to go back home. I don't have nearly as many artistic/creative friends out here, so I was sad that it had to end so quickly. :C

I hope you had a very enjoyable birthday and that all of the NG Staff and friends gave you a warm welcome.

I would have, but the financial status is questionable at the moment... How about this, I O U one birthday hug?

Did you manage to save those chocolates for the trip home?

PS = let me know when you plan to have a Canada meet.
