Hey cool, I'm going after the same degree!
I dropped out of college long ago and just started back up this semester. I'm feeling sympathy because I'm only taking a few classes while I work full time.
Do you have to do a semester of student teaching before you officially get the degree?
Aw no way! That's so cool!
You'd make an awesome instructor. So much interesting background and talent to get students hyped about art!
I still have one student teaching semester to go - this one's gonna be 8 weeks, but I'm not sure which school they've put me in yet. Should be cool!
And yeah--frick, man-- Going to school while trying to keep up appearances at work is tough! More than three or four courses is suicide! lol
Definitely going to magfest again, shit's always a blast.
Gonna miss going to pico day since tom wanted the main artists now =/

Awesome! Yeah, I've seriously never had so much fun at a comic con before. I never usually get the chance to be a spectator and participate; I'm always stuck behind a table selling stuff! haha
As for Pico Day, maybe I'm jumping the gun a little bit - I'm still not even sure that it's gonna happen this year. lol I'm just gonna go visit the guys regardless.

It turned out to be kinda slow after all. This one was the first official Sask Expo, so people were mostly scouting things out and lining up for celebrity photo ops. Still turned a profit though!
What school are you attending, and what degree are you pursuing?
Bachelor of Education at the University of Alberta with a Fine Arts major and an English minor. c:
I'll be teaching high school with it, hopefully abroad for a while.

What do you need to do on comic cons? Do you need to draw or present your art may be?

Nope. you just sign up and pay money. :)
It's usually about $75-200 to get a table for the weekend. You just bring whatever you want to sell!
There are SOME places that make you show sample art first, so they can determine if you have quality work, but that's pretty rare unless you're going to big ones like San Diego Comic Con.
I just keep a big list of bookmarked comic cons and sign up when their registrations open.
