..In my opinion, if it's the budget you're worried about, I'd suggest a "Bamboo Fun" tablet. They're reasonably cheap, but probably just a little over 120, unfortunately. You could probably get one off ebay for a decent price, too.

If you're interested in more top-of-the-line stuff, I'd reccommend an Intuos tablet as a little more pricey alternative. I've been saving up to get one myself. Inter-changable pen nibs and stuff. They're pretty cool.

As for reviews and stuff, I mostly agree with you.
NG has a small selection of people that genuinely and honestly critique artwork, and those are the people I enjoy hearing from. The other big chunk of people that review artwork usually happen to have no artistic background, or are more concerned about saying something funny/rude so everyone else can see it.. :\

Deviantart is better for the fact that there aren't half as many trollers, but it's more of a "myspace" for artists. There's just SO many people on it. NG seems to be a closer, smaller community. From what I find, so if you meet the right people, you can really settle in nicely and be recognised for your skills. c:

but a Sabtastic happens to be doubly as majestic and awesome a creature. Unique to her species, rare and elusive, the Sabtastic practices the ancient art of curvy-lady-drawingry. A self-taught patron of the arts, the regal and magestic Sabtastic is a very territorial beast. She lurks in a deserted, dark cavern, located in the region of Parentsbasement, seldomly venturing out to gather rations or reclaim her property when siblings steal it. When threatened, the Sabtastic draws embarassing pictures of her agressors as a warning. If the foolish trespassers do not heed her first warning, she will proceed to whine and complain in a very nasal tone, until the intruders become annoyed and leave.
