Hey cool, thanks for posting this! Looks great so far, especially with the incomplete eyes. Alice in Wonderland is such a dark coming of age story, it's almost fitting to leave her eyes blank like that for a creepy effect.

I'm teaching Art 10-12 this year and this looks like a really fun assignment. Could you go into detail about what you were being marked on and what the object of the project was? If not, no worries. Just curious since it looks fun!

GhoulKitten responds:

I thought the creepy blank eyes were nice too. I didn't wanna over-do the piece so I didn't color Alice, and I didn't do the rest of the background, so it's kinda like wherever she walks, she brings madness with her, idk.

And basically, what we had to do for this project was to use a grid or collage format to express texture, line, value, shape and balance, making any physical object of your choosing, for example, a dog, a person, a brick, anything... using grids or making a collage. I chose to use grids. And then I used, think it's called, pointillism, for Alice. I didn't want to loose her in all the craziness with the background.

Thanks for the comment, and good luck with your teaching. :D

Thanks sab, can't take majority of credit since original design was based on Circumsoldier's pixel art.
Hope you're doing well!

Ahhh this is gorgeous! I love the washed out pastel palette you used for this -- such a hard thing to get right.

Caterina responds:

Thank you!! haha yeah it was a bit tricky to get that pastel light blue hair^^.

D-D-DIGIMON.

Love this duo - somehow it fits your artistic style perfecty, I almost expected these to be characters of interest to you given what you normally draw. haha

Btw I'm lovin' those eyes on Numemon - the distortion/perspective on its eyeball is refreshing to see. It's a good eyeball anatomy refresher!

WeirdRikert responds:

Thanks, Digimon is my Pokemon, my murdering-gun-heavy-leather-wearing-poop-throwing-Pokemon

Haha I love that you write notes to yourself too.
